Ahe Highway (G681)
Snow peaks and grasslands along Northern Xinjiang's iconic drive
About
G681 runs northeast from Altay toward Hemu and Kanas—one of Northern Xinjiang's classic scenic highways. Pastures, canyons, forests, and pullouts rhythm the drive for a one-day highlight or a multi-day slow journey with camps.
Stop at Tongba Black Forest, Tuolehaite pasture, Jiangqing Lake, and more—green and water in spring and summer, color in autumn, snow and rime in winter. Camps and guesthouses line the road for photo, cycling, and deep nature stays.
